What Does Mom Want For Mother’s Day?
Last year, I talked about the practical gifts mom would love for Mother’s Day. Things like time off, a clean house, well-behaved children, a clean car, completed errands (hint, grocery shopping & laundry), all the things that just are not going to happen. I’m a practical person so these are all the things I would want. This year, I’m going to indulge a bit. This year my list still includes some unique items but also some indulgent items, all with the environment in mind.

5 Gift Moms Are Sure to Love
Seedles – I discovered Seedles last year and ordered a pack for myself. I am embarrassed to say I have still not planted them. I will do it soon. There, I’ve put it in writing so I’m committed. Seedles are flower and herb seed balls. They can either be planted or just thrown on the ground. This is why they make a great gift, you can put in as much or as little effort as you want. After just a bit of time, you’ve got flowers and/or herbs growing. I have a spot in my yard that’s bare and needs some color and I don’t have much time to spend picking out flowers and then planting them so this is the perfect solution! Seedles’ goal is to grow wildflowers in support of the declining bee population. To read my post about the importance of wildflowers and bees, click here.
Chocolate T-Shirt – If you’ve been with me for more than a hot minute, you may remember my Holiday Gift Guide filled with gifts that the recipient will not only love but also have a secondary benefit. One of those gifts was chocolate bars that supported rescue dogs. I don’t know that I’ve ever met anyone who doesn’t like chocolate so it’s sure to be a winner for mom but pair a gourmet chocolate bar with this fun t-shirt and she’ll love you forever. Well, she sorta has to, she’s your mom.
4Ocean – Over the past couple years, I’ve become a sucker for beaded bracelets. These bracelets from 4Ocean will not disappoint. Made from recycled materials (the cord is made from recycled plastic bottles and the beads from recycled glass bottles), these bracelets are adjustable, waterproof, and come in a bunch of colors. For just $20, you get a bracelet and your purchase helps remove 1 pound of trash from oceans and coastlines. I heard about 4Ocean and bought my bracelet about a year or so ago and since then, I’ve seen many people wearing them. Maybe it’s a secret club.
Aroma Couture Jewelry – Last year I mentioned Aroma Couture so this year, I’m also going to mention my favorite oil company, *Plant Therapy. I love that I can change the oil on the lava rocks to suit whatever mood I’m in. I’ve used Plant Therapy oils for a few years now and simply love them. The oils are high quality, reasonably priced, arrive very fast and always come with a super fun sticker. I’ve amassed quite a collection.
*Himalayan Pink Salt Lamp – I’ve wanted a Himalayan Pink Salt Lamp for a few years now and maybe this year will be my year to get one. If you’re not familiar with them, they are supposed to have a whole host of health benefits from helping to alleviate asthma/allergy symptoms, improve blood flow, improve sleep, improve mood and more. I’ve been looking at this *Crystal Decor Lamp. They aren’t very expensive so I may just buy one for myself and even if it doesn’t have these health benefits, it’s calming to look at.
The other day my husband was joking that the new alternator I just got in my car would be my gift. He then asked my 12 y/o son what he thinks I would want. Son’s response – to be by herself! This kid knows me so well. We don’t have any Mother’s Day traditions around our house although I surely think sending mom off to a luxurious resort for the weekend sounds like a good tradition to start! In all honesty though, if the weather would cooperate, my kids could make it through a day with minimal fighting, and my husband would make dinner, I’d call it a success.
Make it a green day!
