How am I already shopping for tween girl gifts? Holiday shopping was so much easier when the kids were younger. I could get them books, toys, clothes, anything and they’d be happy. Now that we’ve hit the tween years and technology is all consuming in our daily lives, choosing gifts that don’t involve a screen has become challenging.
Many of these tween girl gift ideas are things we already use and would absolutely give as a gift. In fact, my daughter will be receiving a few of them this year. Shhh, don’t tell her! It’s so easy to get swept up in all the gift giving hype and sometimes it can be easy to cut corners and buy the cheaper so I’m sharing some ideas that are eco-friendly, safer for our health and fun for tween girls.
On to the tween girl gift ideas…

Makeup and Personal Care
Nail Polish
Ella+Mila is a brand we use and like. It goes on smooth and holds up well. I reviewed it along with a few other non-toxic nail polishes in this post.
I found this fun gadget that will make painting her nails so much easier. Tweexy Nail Polish Holder.
Burt’s Bees is my go-to for lip balm and I use ALOT of lip balm. I think I ruined my lips back in my tween years from all the Chapstick I used. Whenever I use anything other than Burt’s Bees, my lips aren’t happy. Girls like all the flavors and scents so this variety pack meets all.the.needs.
Makeup
If your tween participates in cheerleading, dance, ballet or sports like these, she may already wear makeup for competitions. Physician’s Formula is a brand I’ve used myself for years. You can learn more about how I choose my non-toxic make-up right here.
Brushes
Quality makeup brushes will last much longer than cheap stuff. These brushes from Emax Designs offer a great variety at a reasonable price.
Bath Bombs are a big thing right now among this age group. Many of the stores that are popular with tween girls have a variety of bath bombs to choose from, all full of toxic ingredients. These bath bombs from Aprilis leave the crappy ingredients out while still giving the bath fun color and fizz.
Essential Oils
I’m a big believer in treating common ailments and uplifting moods with essential oils (EO’s). We diffuse EO’s in our home on a very regular basis and use them to treat things like colds, seasonal allergies, pimples, etc. If you already have a diffuser, just pick out some EO’s she’d like. I’ve used Plant Therapy oils for years and love them.
If you need a diffuser first, we own this one and are very happy with it.
Don’t forget about the wrapping. I’ve got 7 Waste Free Alternatives to Wrapping Paper for you right here.

Girls are at such a crucial age developmentally during their tween years, constant reminders that they should dream big and go after those dreams are a necessity. Foster and encourage a love of self and acceptance.

Books and More
My daughter and I are reading this book and we really like it. I love the message it is sending, to both of us. None of us is perfect and that’s ok.
My daughter regularly asks me about things from my childhood, things I really don’t remember. She likes to talk about specific events and memories she has so they must hold a special place in her brain. I think this would be great fun to do with her.
And what tween girl isn’t obsessed with markers and pens?
Are you shopping for tween girls this year? What are they asking for?
Make it a green day!
